  Throughout the each day of the 2008 Detroit JCC Maccabi Games, buses will run between the athletic venues and the transportation hub at the Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit in West Bloomfield.

 

   Only credentialed athletes and coaches will be permitted to ride the buses.

 

   Athletes dropped off in the morning at the JCC  may take bus transportation to their athletic venues. Those whose competition begins at 8 a.m. should be sure to arrive in time to load the 7 a.m. bus.

 

   Late arrival to the hub for bus pick up or to the Games venues will be grounds for forfeit.

 

  Buses will not be held for athletes. Athletes may be dropped off at their specific sports venue beginning at 7:15 a.m. Check the schedule to ensure proper timing and the correct bus. Buses will be clearly marked. Additional schedules will be available at the JCC.

 

  Athletes must ride the buses.

 

   They may not drive themselves or ride in cars with anyone. Host families and visiting families are encouraged to come watch the athletes compete and cheer them on, but they may not drive them during the day after morning drop-off. Athletes are not allowed to return to their host family home during the day. They must remain with the JCC Maccabi Games program from morning drop-off.

JCC Maccabi Games traffic notes

For host families: 2008 Detroit JCC Maccabi Games encourages host families to drop off your athletes at their first morning venue as traffic congestion is expected at the Jewish Communtiy Center of Metropolitan Detroit in West Bloomfield. Venues are prepared to receive athletes 45 minutes 45 minutes before the start of the first event (7:15 a.m. in most case). In addition, there will be buses from the JCC to all venues every morning. Please make sure to allow sufficient time for athletes to ride the buses to the venue.

 

Please be sure your athletes bring a change of clothes in the morning as they will not be going home to shower. Showers will be available at Bloomfield Hills Andover, Birmingham Seaholm, and Farmington Hills Harrison High Schools, the JCC, the Sports Club of West Bloomfield, and the Detroit Tennis and Squash Club. Please bring towels, soap, etc.

 

Traffic notes: The Drake Road entrance of the JCC in West Bloomfield will be CLOSED Aug. 17-21 during the JCC Maccabi Games.

Please use the entrance at Maple Road during that period.

The parking lot on the east side of the JCC building will also be CLOSED during that period. Parking will be available on the SOUTH side of the building.
