Rochester Hills -- Defending Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 1 runner-up Rochester
overcame bitter cold and bone-chilling winds to win their season-opener over short-handed Bloomfield Lahser 3-1 in an Oakland
Activities Association battle on April 1.
Lahser was the state runner-up in Division 2 last season. but were playing without five starters
due to injury.
Senior Amanda Brewster scored the Falcons' first goal of the season with 35.32 left in the first. But the Knights tied
the score on a goal by sophomore Anna Zambricki.
Sophomore Amanda Anton put the Falcons back ahead for good with a 30-yard strike that
cleared underneath the crossbar to put Rochester up 2-1 at the half.
Rochester controlled the second half play and sophomore Alexis
Apel finished the scoring with a goal inside the far post with 28:42 left in the game.
