Blazers advance in playoffs

Livonia Ladywood holds off Farmington in a MHSAA girls lacrosse Division 2, Region 6 regional first round game on Monday, May 23, 2016

 

   Livonia Ladywood held off Farmington 17-13 in a Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 2, Region 6 girls lacrosse playoff game on Monday, May 23, at Farmington.

   Ladywood led 11-4 at halftime. Farmington wasn’t able to close the gap to less than four goals in the second half.

   Senior Shannon Mulcahy and senior Jillian Jacobs both scored five goals to lead Ladywood. Senior Abigail Randall scored three goals. Senior Nicole Reece found the net twice. And sophomore Claire Haase and junior Colleen Barnes added goals in the victory.

   Ladywood pounded Tecumseh 22-5 in its pre-regional on May 19 and won its fifth straight Catholic High School League Division 2 championship on May 14.

   Ladywood advances to face the winner of Thursday’s (May 26) game between Walled Lake Northern and Temperance Bedford on Wednesday, June 1.
